Based on April 2026 news reports, Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California, was identified as a mechanically gifted individual with a background in engineering and a passion for tutoring, who was involved in projects to assist the disabled before becoming the suspect in a security incident at the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Education: Allen earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2017.
Inventions: During his senior year at Caltech, he was featured in a local ABC news interview for developing a prototype for a new type of emergency brake for wheelchairs. (see below)
