Trump started calling the Department of Defense the Department of War. He had Republicans in Congress increase the “war” budget by $150 billion this year, to a total of $1 trillion.
With that budget, Trump has:
đ¸Used military strikes in Somalia, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Nigeria, and Iran.
đ¸Threatened force against Panama, Greenland, and Colombia
đ¸Invaded Venezuela and deposed its leader
đ¸Started a war with Iran that has engulfed the Middle East in chaos and taken American lives
For next yearâs budget, Trump has requested a $500 billion increase in the “war” budget that would bring it to $1.5 trillion.
At the same time, cuts were made to Medicaid, Medicare, healthcare subsidies, food assistance, education, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
It is clear that Trump and Republicans are focused on starting conflicts across the globe while 750,000 Americans are homeless, 27 million lack healthcare, 36 million live in poverty, and almost half of all full-time workers arenât even paid a livable wage.
So much for putting âAmerica Firstâ.
