There are all kinds of bad people on this earth. That includes people from all political parties, all religions, and all countries. No one group is exempt. However, discriminating against a whole group of people for the crimes of a few is never justified.
My family are immigrants who have been the subject of much discrimination over the years. But if you were born here, but your family originally came from Italy for example, does that mean you automatically are part of the Mafia? if you are Jewish, are you responsible for Israel’s crimes? If you are from Germany, does that mean you support Hitler?
Absolutely NOT.
So why does someone who was born here get accused of being loyal to or responsible for the crimes of the country his ancestors left and other things without proof?
In this Morning Joe interview, Dr El-Sayed addresses some of the false accusations that have been hurled at him.
ACCUSATION: He thinks Egypt is better than America.
This has to be one of the most preposterous of all the accusations. In the interview below, he specifically mentions that they don’t have freedom of speech in Egypt. So I doubt he thinks it’s “better than America” and why his father came here. He appreciates that he was BORN HERE and is thankful for the opportunities he has had, the freedom of speech and religion that America affords him.
CONCLUSION: He has never EVER said Egypt was better than America.
ACCUSATION: He wants all Jews killed.
This is ridiculous. While it’s true that we’ve heard Zionists, and their leaders, routinely express that exact sentiment over Palestinians since the day they landed in 1948, we would never accuse all Jews, even Zionists, of the crimes of that foreign government. As to this accusation, Dr. AES has stated: “I’m committed to Jewish safety, and we are united against discrimination. The U.S. spends billions to carry out genocide and apartheid against Palestinians. The genocide in Gaza with our complicity is continuing right now. Nobody wants to talk about that.” He has also in other speeches noted how he has had lots of interaction with his Jewish constituents and pledges he would protect their safety as he would his own children.
CONCLUSION: He has never ever said such a horrible thing and would never.
ACCUSATION: He supports violence, such as the attack on the Synagogue by a Lebanese-American.
Dr. AES has routinely condemned this act and all acts of violence against anyone. But the idea that he had the ‘nerve’ to mention the likely motive of the attacker, allowed people to twist that into the idea that he condoned it. He did not. The attacker’s innocent family had been killed by Israel in Lebanon, which is why he used the expression about hurt people hurting others. Clearly he condemned the actions of this attacker, so why can’t others condemn the actions of a government? Violence is violence, no matter who does it.
CONCLUSION: He has regularly condemned violence and wants to see us stop funding it. 70% of Americans now agree with this position.
