Riddle served 90 days in Federal Medical Center Devens in Massachusetts after pleading guilty to two misdemeanors — theft of government property and illegally parading, demonstrating or picketing in the Capitol building.
“As soon as I got out, (Trump) had put out on social media asking people to come protest because he got indicted and that was actually kind of my epiphany moment, because I reacted the way an obsessed Trump supporter who thinks that we think alike and Trump cares about me,” Riddle said Friday morning during a phone interview. “I remember thinking, ‘Why is he asking people to come protest? That can cause a riot. He knows what happened last time. Why would he do that?’”
That was the turning point for Riddle, who suddenly thought Trump didn’t care about anyone but himself, he said.
“I feel like being a Trump supporter is almost like a mental disorder. It’s just, it’s not accepting reality. And I mean, January 6 was just a giant hissy fit. It really, really was,” he said.
