Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is considering firing generals and top military officers as soon as this week, according to two Defense officials and three Congressional sources. Most of those targeted are associated with former Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Meanwhile, there are growing nationwide protests over President Trump’s efforts to shrink the federal workforce. President Trump and close advisor Elon Musk have defended the cuts, saying they are restoring “democracy and the will of the people.” NBC News’ Peter Alexander reports.
