The DOJ confirmed the deletion, characterizing the scrapped records as “partisan propaganda” that was generated during “weaponization” by the prior administration.

he DOJ’s Rapid Response X (formerly Twitter) account defended the deletions, stating they are proud to “strip the DOJ’s website of partisan propaganda” and will “make whole those who were persecuted for political purposes”.
Government watchdog groups, such as Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), have criticized the deletion of public databases. Watchdogs have filed requests with the National Archives to investigate, arguing that destroying or concealing these public records may violate federal record-keeping laws.
