Former President Donald Trump appeared to accidentally post a private message to Attorney General Pam Bondi on his Truth Social account on September 20, 2025.
The message contained criticisms of her perceived inaction against his political opponents, including James Comey, Adam Schiff, and Letitia James.
The initial post: The “tweet,” which was actually a post on Truth Social, began with “Pam:” and expressed frustration over the lack of prosecution against Trump’s political rivals, echoing complaints he had reviewed from supporters. It read, in part: “I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, ‘same old story as last time, all talk, no action.’ What about Comey, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, Leticia???”.
Trump recently fired Erik Siebert, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia for failing to find any evidence with which to charge Leticia James with any wrongdoing and replaced him with someone who would.
Accidental vs. intentional: Many online users speculated that Trump had intended to send the message privately to Bondi and mistakenly posted it publicly. Agenda-Free TV founder Steve Lookner was among those reporting on this speculation.
A quick retraction and a public doubling-down: The post was quickly deleted, but Trump soon reposted it publicly. He then followed up with a new post, publicly praising Bondi but emphasizing the need for a “tough prosecutor” to go after his political adversaries. He also announced his intention to nominate Lindsey Halligan as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Political context: The post occurred amid rising dissatisfaction among some Trump supporters regarding the pace of political prosecutions and the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, a matter Bondi had previously received criticism over.
