Tennessee Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn filed a federal lawsuit in Nashville against Jack Smith. Blackburn alleges that Smith committed a “gross abuse of power” by obtaining her phone call logs via a Verizon subpoena authorized under seal by D.C. Federal Chief Judge James Boasberg. She argues the action violated the Fourth Amendment, the First Amendment, and the Constitution’s Speech or Debate Clause.
However, the subpoenas for congressional phone records were lawful and critical to establishing criminal intent in his January 6 investigation.
Meanwhile, where is the outrage over the time Trump did it WITHOUT any sort of subpoena?
Seeking to investigate leaks of classified information, the Trump Justice Department in 2017 and 2018 secretly obtained phone and text message logs of 43 congressional staffers and two members of Congress in a far broader probe than previously known, according to a new report by the department’s internal watchdog.
