Another man is killed in cold blood with no warrant and no due process. Undocumented individuals who have lived and worked in the United States for many years without committing other crimes are legally entitled to due process and a day in court before they can be deported. They do not deserve to be ambushed and killed. In some cases, they have no idea who it is that is chasing them as ICE seems to like to use unmarked cars without the plates. Imagine being tailed by these jokers? Would you pull over? Especially if you are a woman? Mr. Araujo was in the lengthy process of becoming a citizen. And the claim he tried to ram them is not backed up by the photo of his car which shows no damage. Instead, ICE rammed his car which has damage to its side.
After a federal agent killed an undocumented Mexican man in his van during a traffic stop in Houston on Tuesday, the government rushed to follow a familiar template. Just as it has after other shootings, the Department of Homeland Security released a statement insisting that the man, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, had “weaponized his vehicle” against the officer, who then justifiably opened fire. DHS offered no evidence of this.
