Florida just spent $5.5 million renaming Palm Beach International Airport to “President Donald J. Trump International Airport.” $2.75 million of that came straight from state taxpayers.

Meanwhile his own trademark company filed to trademark the new name before the governor even signed the bill — meaning the county had to write a special clause into the law just to be allowed to use the name without infringing on his own trademark filing.

The agreement says he can’t collect royalties from merchandise sold at the airport. But it’s a non-exclusive license, which trademark attorneys say leaves the door open for him to license “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” merch to third parties elsewhere. Every angle covered — coming or going.

This is where $2.75 million in state money went while food prices are still crushing families and rent hasn’t budged. A sign. A vanity title. A trademark he filed on himself before the law was even law.
