Theodore Middendorf is an Illinois man who pleaded guilty to destruction of government property for striking a Capitol window with a flagpole during the January 6, 2021, riot. He was among the hundreds of defendants who received a pardon from President Trump, which led to the dismissal of his federal charges.Despite the federal pardon, Middendorf remains incarcerated. In May 2024, he was convicted in Illinois of predatory criminal sexual assault involving a 7-year-old child, for which he was sentenced to 19 years in prison. Because his sexual assault conviction was at the state level, it was not impacted or erased by the presidential pardon.
