I know there are some people who don’t like immigrants, but as an immigrant, I just want to open up a little here.
I’ve been working as a truck driver for 2.5 years. Since the day I came here, I haven’t hurt anyone. I learned the culture, I learned the language, and I met good people. I have always worked completely legally.
I had two children here. I don’t really have many people to talk to, so I wanted to share this with people here. I hope you won’t take it the wrong way.
I paid my taxes regularly. After working very hard, I became the owner of 3 trucks and 2 trailers. I also employed 2 American citizens. I did everything I could.
But today I found out that my commercial driver’s license has been canceled because of my immigration status. I just got home, and I don’t know what to do. I believe I am a strong person, and I will fix this again. I’m not as sad for myself, but I feel deeply worried for my two children who are U.S. citizens. I’m afraid of not being able to stand on my feet again.
I’m very tired. I miss my mother and father so much. Video calls don’t reduce that feeling anymore. But I cannot go back to my home country because the system there does not respect law and order.
In Turkey, I was working in software development and professional advertising. I came here, started trucking, and grew my business. Now, because my CDL is canceled, I am going through a difficult time again.
I hope everything turns out well for everyone. I love America, and I truly appreciate the people here. I will continue to serve and work hard.
