Trump is a pathetic, immoral liar. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
In case you missed this story, or heard only parts of it, here’s what actually happened:
One of the sailors on a US nuclear submarine near Greenland, fell ill.
Trump posted, with typical bravado, and an equally typical non-adherence to fact or truth, that a “great US hospital boat” was dispatched on a rescue mission and was on its way.
Both US hospital ships (the Mercy and the Comfort) have been and still are incapacitated, in dry dock, in Alabama – undergoing maintenance. Nothing was on its way, nor could it have been.
Danish military forces graciously rescued the sailor and evacuated him to treat him in a hospital in Greenland.
When Trump said: “help is on the way,” it was A LIE. He was hijacking the story for political benefit, handing the MAGA grift community another fake thing to amplify, creating another distraction from his recent losses and piss-poor approval ratings, and deflecting again from his narcissistically injured fee-fees.
Trump won’t say it, so I will: “Thanks for the save, Denmark. And sorry for … well, you know …”.
In a way, this reminds me of the Sharpie weather map incident – remember that? He doctored a weather map with a Sharpie and sat there on TV ranting, in plain view. It was SO far out there, should have been seen as concrete evidence of how uncontrollably dysfunctional he was.
Sharpie was an example of an incident where mental health pros could AND SHOULD have been engaged on TV for opinion and expertise. Tons of colleagues were willing. And ready. TV wasn’t.
Why does this incident with the hospital boat near Greenland remind me of that? Well, think about what the Sharpie incident was — Trump made a gaffe about a hurricane that a normal person would have walked back. But he has an inability to let ANYTHING go: LARGE OR SMALL. Same thing here with the hospital boat. He has to lie and has to put forth contrived grandiosity, on ANYTHING, whether LARGE or SMALL.
THIS is why it was ALWAYS obvious to mental health professionals and behaviorists, as it is to many citizens now, that he’ll NEVER accept losing an election.
