Two teens who are American CITIZENS were arrested and roughed up by U.S. Border Patrol agents as they worked at a Target in Minnesota.
Let’s hope they file a hefty lawsuit against the federal government for the abuse they endured.
Jonathan Garcia (also known as Jonathan Aguilar Garcia) is a 17-year-old U.S. citizen who was allegedly unlawfully detained by U.S. Border Patrol agents (incorrectly identified as ICE in some initial reports, though they are both federal immigration enforcement agencies) at a Target store in Richfield, Minnesota.
On or around January 8, 2026, Jonathan Garcia and another U.S. citizen teenager, Christian Miranda Romano, both Target employees, were ‘detained’ by federal agents in the store’s parking lot. Videos shared online show agents, including Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino, detaining the teens, with one agent slamming Garcia to the ground.
Witnesses and local lawmakers, including State Rep. Michael Howard, stated the teenagers were targeted because of their appearance while performing their duties as drive-up employees. The teens were targeted and arrested without a warrant or probable cause based on their appearance, which led to accusations of racial profiling.
Family members claim that when they communicated with agents and presented the teens’ birth certificates, the agents initially stated they didn’t care about their citizenship status. Jonathan Garcia was reportedly released a short time later (around eight minutes) at a nearby Walmart parking lot, bleeding and crying, while Christian Romano was released after several hours in custody.
Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk commented on the incident after Google Chief Scientist Jeff Dean criticized the federal agents’ actions on social media. Musk questioned the claims, asking for evidence that Garcia had shown his passport and suggesting the original posts were based on “hearsay on the Internet”.
We found that interesting since at one point, Musk and his brother both CAME HERE ILLEGALLY.
The Bulwark, a conservative news outlet, has more stories of racial profiling like this one.
